After School Program
Signal Mountain Christian School offers an after-school program to our families who need care for their children in the afternoons. The program is run by Anne Fellers, our Fourth Grade teacher. Anne was involved in an after-school program where she taught before coming to us. She has a Masters degree in Education from Covenant College and is highly qualified to assist students with homework during their study time. The program includes study time, snacks, crafts, and supervised play. Other particulars are listed below:*Hours of operation are from the dismissal time until 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. The after school program runs concurrently with the SMCS schedule except on early dismissal days. There is no after school care on early dismissal days.
*With the after-school program, priority is given first to single working parents, second to families in which both parents work, and third to parents with children in different schools where the pick-up schedules conflict.
*There is a maximum of 15 children per day in the after-school program.
*After-school program reservations/payments may be made weekly or monthly. Forms may be downloaded from the website or picked up in the office. You also may call the office and request that a form be sent home in your child’s folder. Payment is due on the Friday before care is to be provided. The form and payment can be returned through the student’s class folder. Parents may request the program for a full week or any part of a week. Specific days should be marked on the form.
*Drop in is usually available and is charged at the same daily rate. It is permitted on a first come, first served basis. Parents may call the office to learn whether or not space is available. Payment for drop-ins will be made when the child is picked up.

*Snacks and supplies are included in the fee.
*No discounts are given for payment made by the week or month.
*A discount of $2 per day is given for siblings.
*No refunds or exchanged days are given for missed days. (If the school cancels a day e.g., snow day, the cost of that day will be deducted from the next week's payment.)
*A late fee of $1.00 for every 5 minutes is charged for late pick up. The office will send a notice home with the child notifying you of this charge. The atomic clock in Miss Fellers' room governs the exact time.
*There is a sign out sheet for parents to sign at pick up. The child's name, person picking them up and time of pick up is to be noted.
PLEASE NOTE: The after-school program is a separate program from our one hour "late stay" for younger siblings of upper elementary SMCS students (traditionally provided on Tuesdays for $3). That program is in place and has been expanded to include Thursdays (two hours for $6). This is ONLY provided to families with siblings so that the parent has one pick-up time, if desired. Payment for the late stay sibling program is made directly to the teacher providing the care (usually Trudee Overman).
